A2P Registration, Info, and Help

A2P (Application-to-Person) messaging is the process of sending text messages from an application like ConnectorCRM to a person's mobile number, and often happens through automation for marketing purposes. Registration is required for all users wishing to use SMS capability using a local 10 digit phone number.

In the US, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and related FCC regulations set strict guidelines for SMS communication. Here’s what businesses need to know:

General consent: Before sending any A2P messages, businesses must obtain explicit consent from the recipient. This means customers must actively agree to receive messages, whether it’s for account updates or marketing offers.

Express written consent for marketing: Sending marketing messages requires an even higher level of consent – express written consent. This typically involves a clear opt-in mechanism, like a checkbox on a web form or a text message keyword (e.g., “Text YES to 12345 to receive special offers”).

Easy revocation: Customers must always be able to easily unsubscribe or revoke their consent. This usually involves a simple keyword like “STOP” or “UNSUBSCRIBE.”

New laws and regulations require that entities wishing to use A2P messaging complete A2P registration. This requires the entity to provide certain information about their business, the types of messages being sent, how they collect consent, and how they handle opt-outs.

Part of this registration process requires entities to have an EIN (employer identification number).

What are the requirements for local number registration?

Anyone can apply for a toll-free number at anytime, however to apply for a local 10 digit number, you must meet the following criteria BEFORE applying:

  1. Have an actively registered EIN and LLC for a minimum of 45 days.

  2. Must provide your CP 575 letter.

  1. Your business profile must match your CP 575 letter EXACTLY.

  2. Must have an active website, with clear opt-in language, compliant forms, a clear description of what you do, a compliant privacy policy, compliant terms, and must match certain info on your CP 575 letter to your website.

  3. Must have a defined opt-in AND opt-out process.

  4. Complete brand and campaign registration, and pay associated fees.

ConnectorCreative Technologies has streamlined much of this process for you by creating a compliant website template, however, we discourage users from attempting to register for A2P on their own because the process is very complicated and failure to get approved the first time will cost more time and money on your part.

Do I need to have an LLC?

If having a local phone number doesn't matter to you, then NO, you do not need an LLC. However, you're limiting the number of people you can reach, numbers you can own, and messages you can send.

What if I don't have an EIN or LLC

You can still register for and send A2P messages, but you will not be able to use a local number to do so. Sole Proprietors will only be able to use a toll free number for A2P purposes.

How do I create an LLC?

  1. We can help you set up your LLC for a fee. We'll handle all the paperwork for you and help you get registered with your state.

  2. You can can complete the paperwork on your own for free. The only associated cost will be the filling fees for your state, which can vary. To begin the process, create an EIN here and then complete the necessary documents. After that, you will need to register your business with your state.

What are the costs associated with A2P

ConnectorCreative Technologies will charge a one time set up fee of $80 at account creation on all SMS enabled accounts. This fee covers all compliant templates, forms, privacy, terms, website, and toll-free number registration. ConnectorCreative Technologies will charge an additional $70 one time set up fee to users wishing to activate a local number. This fee covers the application process and additional compliant templates required for application. This fee will not be charged until you meet all of the qualifications to apply for a local number.

In addition to fees paid to ConnectorCreative Technologies, the regulatory agency that manages A2P registrations charges a $23.95 fee for all campaign registrations. This fee is incurred whether you get approved or not, and will be incurred every time you apply.

Can I just register for A2P by myself?

Due to the increased scrutiny of the phone carriers and TPA, we discourage users from registering on their own, however we cannot stop you.
Please note, if you do attempt to register for A2P on your own and get rejected 3 times, you will be blocked from applying again.

To unlock your account and re-apply for A2P after 3 failures, we will have to charge a $200 account reset fee, plus a $100 A2P penalty fee.
